How Canada became an education superpower

Discussions about the best education systems often highlight Asian leaders like Singapore and South Korea, or Nordic experts like Finland and Norway.

However, Canada, with less fanfare, has risen to the top ranks of international education standings.

In the latest international Pisa tests by the OECD, Canada stood out by ranking in the top 10 for math, science, and reading.

This places Canadian teenagers among the world’s most well-educated, surpassing neighbours like the US and culturally similar nations such as the UK and France.

Additionally, Canada boasts the highest rate of working-age adults with higher education in the world—55%, significantly above the OECD average of 35%.
